Consists of text and images (distributed as an A4 publication at an exhibition at Quay Arts, Isle of Wight, 2006) accompanied by a collection of ‘QSL’ cards collected by amateur radio enthusiast and Island resident Eric Heath.
The project connects the hobby of amateur or ‘ham’ radio with seemingly disparate strands of the Isle of Wight’s history from the late nineteenth century: Marconi’s setting up of the first ever radio station from the Needles Hotel, Queen Victoria’s last years at Osborne House, and the deportation to Australia and New Zealand of teenage inmates from Parkhurst Prison.
