The foyer included the reception desk and a large space which was used as exhibition space for the degree shows. There were seats for visitors, a brown leather sofa which had cushions made for the 'Sofa Stars' year of 1999, and low tables with piles of KIAD literature about various courses. On my first ever visit to the campus a girl wearing trainers and a short skirt with her hair in pigtails had walked past me as I sat there. After you had walked through the doors of the foyer (past the curator's office) you had several choices- turn left to go down the corridor, straight ahead to go out onto the green and the large tree, or right to access offices including the counsellor's, other administrative offices and the staff female toilets. You could also go through the red doors to the BO1 lecture theatre or through the grey doors to the gallery. To the left of the gallery entrance you could walk under the stairs (which led to the library) and past a small store room towards the staff canteen.
