The bar had been refurbished at the same time as the canteen. This included a curved ceiling with small lights in it and a blue and orange colour scheme. Previously some architecture students had designed a wooden structure which formed a slightly more private area with seating. There was a noticeboard with a wrought-iron case which a former student had designed, using Russian letters, the translation has escaped me. There were sofas (temporarily confiscated because of misuse) and tables similar to those in the canteen. The bar itself also had metal shutters. For several years the bar was run by two men called Andy and Udi. Andy was known to many as 'Three Haircuts in One' and often invited his friends from Margate, one of whom drank whole bottles of red wine and once cried in the bar. Thursdays were for some years Pound a Pint night, then for a while Mondays were. On Fridays there would be parties with student DJs. During the day this area would be the smoking area of the canteen. Some sandwiches were available from here. The two doors to the bar led to a small room next to the canteen, and to the corridor which included doors to BO2 lecture theatre and the student toilets.
