A public art project, part of ‘Art U Need; An Outdoor Revolution’, curated by Bob & Roberta Smith and included in the book ‘Art U Need- My Part in the Public Art Revolution’, published by Black Dog 2007.
The project involved working with local people to create a ‘Residents’ Guidebook’ to the island, including anecdotal information and personal recollections rather than official historical facts. The Rendezvous Walking Club was started as part of the project, and participants gave their own guided tours as part of the launch event. An audio version of some of these can be downloaded from the archived website.
Art U Need was supported by the Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership, through the Investing in Communities (IiC) programme, funded by the east of England Development Agency and Arts Council England, East.
